Repeater Product
(1/1)
kbrooking:
Just a product suggestion...
LinkLabs, a company working in the LoRa space has a repeater product that can extend the range of their GW. The benefit of a repeater is that it only requires power (i.e. solar). No internet connection needed. Imagine if mc-Things had a repeater product that could be deployed in a neighborhoods, farm fields, small communities...etc extending mc-air as far out as necessary. This would be great in remote areas where no other lpwan exists.
Anyway, just a suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion. We are currently developing a gateway with a larger range. It has an PA/LNA and multiple antenna's. It still can connect over WiFi and wired Ethernet and has better security features. The price of the device will be similar as the current gateway.

Sound great, I'll get one for sure.
I was thinking about a second gateway, as the range on the current gateway/modules doesn't cover the house, but I'll wait for the better version.
I guess 2.4GHz just can't get through too many walls (not on low power anyway). I was thinking that the 1/4 wave antenna in the gateway (OK, it's just a module) could be improved on, as space on the gateway is less of an issue than the modules. A 5/8 would work well. I may try an experiment...

I can't wait. My property is just under a half acre, and I can't get 100% coverage right now.

All firmware is finished and tested and we are going to produce them the coming weeks.
