Title: What type of headers will fit, so I can order at Digikey or so?
Post by: rudydevolder on August 04, 2016, 01:04:23 am
Can somebody give me a reference or the spacing?
I want to order male and female headers and maybe some kind of breakout-board so I can easily change and connect my module. :D

Hello.
You will find product specification in the download section on mcThings.com

So Headers with a spacing of 0.050" (1.27mm) and 8 pins will do I think. :)

@rudydevolder - You may want to check out our mc-Dev board! The board is designed to easily connect your module via headers into the breakout board! Makes prototyping and developing much easier and faster since it creates a direct serial connection to the module.
You can check out the board here: http://www.mcthings.com/products/mc-dev

You may also want to look at our YouTube video where we showcase the mc-Dev board functions and go through a small demo with a light sensor

Hi, I will surely order the dev-board,  I like. But even than I need to put male headers on my mcModule to fit the dev-board with female headers, right?
Also, I want to make a small compact adapter board with a bigger header. I hope though somebody else will make 😉
I want to order at Digikey very soon. So to be compatible with the dev-board I want to be sure what fits. Can you inform me please?

The mcDev includes header for the mcModule that you solder on the mcModule and then it connects to the mcDev. The mcDev comes with standard-pitch 0.1" (2.54mm) header that you could use to connect to a breadboard all this is standard so no problem to find wire's for this.

I just got my mc-Dev board today. The mc-Module 110's work great due to their pins having a zig-zag pattern. However, I am struggling to get the mc-Module 120's to sit on the headers that came with the mc-Dev board.

Advice?

I would solder them to the board to make sure that the connection is perfect.
That is what I have done, I only have one mcDevboard and one mcModule prepared for use with the mcDevboard.

I don't like the idea of soldering anything during development.

If the headers provided with the mc-Dev board are the standard 0.1" (which is too small), then what size will fit tightly on the mc-Module 120?

Well, you could use the same mcModule for all your projects.
mcDevboard to a breadboard and other sensors connected there.
But in all projects you will need a mcModule and no reason to change that module just because you change project.

This is what you need I think.

I have got some and just waiting for my mcThings boards and I had to order some female headers as well but will probably have one module permanently setup so I can develop new projects.

I have ordered the devkit but being able to prototype on a breadboard with exactly the components I was to use to I can accurately measure power consumption is very important to me.
