Title: Sigfox Downlink Support
Post by: Sigfox16 on May 15, 2017, 10:06:58 am
Hello,

I'm wondering if there might be support for the Sigfox Downlink within McScript?

Thanks!

Hello,
Currently there is no support for this as none of the mcThings devices are able to receive downlink messages via SIGFOX. There are a couple reasons for this:

- Being battery operated devices, it is very 'expensive' in terms of power consumption and would decrease the life of a device

- The SIGFOX message size that can be received is quite small and while it could be possible to ask a device to 'do something' via the network, we have not had a lot of calling for this feature. This downlink feature is also (to my knowledge) only available on a SIGFOX premium account

All that said, its not out of the question for us to look at implementing this down the road possibly. As mentioned above, the biggest issue is the battery draw on the device so if it were to be implemented, there would be compromises/trade-offs to consider

Hope that helps
Thanks
