mc-Module / Re: Add a max6675 to a MCmodule 110
« on: January 23, 2017, 03:31:43 am »
Thanks for the reply. I want to read the temperature of a Woodfired oven. Temperatures can get as high as 600 c or even more. The module you referred to mentions a probe for higher temperatures (but needs 5 volt)temperature. Would it be possible to use a step-up regulator?

mc-Module / Add a max6675 to a MCmodule 110

Hi, would it be possible to connect a max6675 thermocouple to a Mcmodule 110? And how would that be achieved best? Any ideas on this?

Thanks.

W.

Hi,

Nice project. This is something I had in mind when getting the modules. I now only have some of the modules prepared for (outside) temperature reporting. Which is published to my mqtt broker running on a NAS.
Having a look at the device on the photo, attached to the door I do not see anything soldered to it? So only having one magnet makes this work? Or is the other part hidden behind the module?
Would be great if you could share some more details. So, the not so technical ones around here, can try to create this as well :)

Thanks

MQTT / Re: mosquitto mqtt gateway config settngs

My Mcmodules are now publishing to mqtt. In my mosquitto log files I can see the beacons from mcThings. Turned out to be a stupid typo error in the ip address :)
Next thing is getting a temperature logging code to work.

I did a long test and now the modules stay connected. I made the mistake thinking the modules should be "connected" through the mc-Studio but that is only if you want to upload the code to the module.
Now I see the beacons working, I still do not see them in my mqtt broker (Mosquitto). In the log file I can see only a client connecting but not the publisher?
So could my config file be wrong? Or how do I see that something is published by my module/ gateway ?

Also I wondered how could one see what is on the module? Or do I need to keep a list with all my uploads to a particular module?

mc-Gateway / Re: Enclosure for mcGateway
« on: December 03, 2016, 03:04:28 pm »
I went to 3dhubs.com and selected one of the 3d printing services nearby :) Collecting it myself cost me approx 7 Euro for the mcGateway and two modules. The mcGateway enclosure is, as already mentioned by "It is quite tight fit". But since I'm not a 3d-designer I use it as it is now. The enclosures for the modules are fine (not waterproof though).
so if any-one else is willing to design some state of the art enclosures (for all the hardware, including the dongle and if possible waterproof) than that would be interesting to see. And sharing the 3d print files to use would even better :)

Of course we are also still waiting to receive the enclosures form mcThings (Kickstarter)!

To make things more clear I attach my settings and apart of the log file.  I also experience my mc-module to disconnect after some time?

Nice! I have one printed today. Lets see if it fits :) Did you also make an enclosure for the mc-modules? I would be interested in those files too. If I have my enclosure printed I will upload an image here.
I ordered one through https://www.3dhubs.com lets see how that works out :)

MQTT / mosquitto mqtt gateway config settngs
« on: November 29, 2016, 05:20:52 pm »
Hi,

As a first test I tried the http://mcthings.createaforum.com/mqtt/temperature-reporting/  as a sample. But that did not work out well. I do not see any-thing getting published in mosquitto. So apparently I have done something wrong. I'm running mosquitto on a server in my lan. Its working since i can perform the "hello world" test. So there has to be a mistake in the Gateway config. I have the gateway ethernet connected. So I have the ip address and the user/ passwd in it.
Now I would expect to see something in mosquitto but no way?
Anyone who has this kind of local mqtt settup and willing to share a screenshot of the config here? Would be a great help :)

mc-Module / Re: upgrading module firmware
« on: November 29, 2016, 05:09:28 pm »
Thanks for the reply.

I have done all the steps you mentioned and using the right firmware. Only one of the updated modules is working now. Isn't there a possibility of hard-resetting the modules? Like on the gateway.

mc-Module / upgrading module firmware
« on: November 29, 2016, 09:49:50 am »
Made a start with mc-thing this week (I'm a Kickstarter Backer). First thing to do is updating the mc-modules with the latest firmware.

I tried to update 3 of them from which only one succeeded. One other module has a red led burning all the time and one other one ins not accepting the bin file. How to get the red led one working again? And is it possible to reset the mc-module so that it will accept the bin file?

I have all the latest firmware and followed the manual for updating.

Thanks W.
