Hello everyone,
It has come to our attention that there is a potential issue when using the mcOTA application to update mcModules. There is a new feature in mcOTA that allows you to Erase the mcScript on the modules as well as erase the Data Store.

Erasing the data store on the mcModules appears to cause issues and may 'brick' your modules. We are working hard to fix this asap and will let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime,

DO NOT HIT THE 'ERASE DATA STORE' BUTTON WHEN UPDATING YOUR mcMODULES! - at least until the issue is resolved.

Using the 'Erase mcScript' button does work and will not negatively affect your modules, it will do as intended.

The 'Erase Data Store' function is meant for mcGateways so that you can erase the module registry to the gateway if you wish. It is not meant for mcModules.

Again, we are working hard on resolving this asap and we appreciate your patience.

Please let us know if you have any questions on this

Thanks!

UPDATE

We determined that this problem only affects the mcMod110's (The original Kickstarter and Indiegogo modules). We have identified the issue and will be releasing new firmware for the mcMod110 that will resolve this issue.

Until this firmware is released, please DO NOT USE THE 'ERASE STORE' BUTTON IN mcOTA WHEN UPDATING YOUR mcMOD110's.

We will announce the new firmware release shortly
Thanks again for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Please let us know if you have any questions
Thanks!

UPDATE

We just released a new firmware update for the mcMod110's to fix the above issue. With the new firmware, the mcModule will not 'brick' if you accidentally hit the 'Erase data store button when updating the modules using mcOTA. Please be sure to update your modules to the latest firmware (available from our website on the download page)

* Note - as mentioned previously, the 'Erase Data Store' option in mcOTA is meant to erase the module registry on the mcGateways. This allows you to delete the registry of modules that the gateway stores in its memory

Thanks!
