I have tried this on both my desktop and laptop both are running windows 7 64 bit and I have tried a couple different USB cables just to be sure with no luck.

Hey Truger44 - thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are working on a potential fix here but we'll need some help from you. We are wondering if your USB port is being commandeered by another application. I have sent you an email to your user sign-in as i have a couple steps that i will ask if you can complete on your computer to help us out. If you don't see that email for some reason, please send me a private message on the forum.
thanks for your patience!

I managed to get the mcOTA program to recognise the dongle. I have a dual boot setup on my computer with win 7 and win 10 on the same computer

Upon installing the mcOTA on windows 10 it installed the dongle in literally under 10 seconds :)

So problem is with defiantly something to do with win 7 or an application that is controlling / commanding it

Right now im happy it finally works and will just use win 10 I guess this might be the push I need to finally transition to win 10

Sorry it would appear the email address had the word like behind it for some reason and it was sitting in my drafts folder instead of having been sent. Sent now.

I got it going on my 3rd pc. The difference I can see is that UAC is still turned on, on this laptop. If I run the OTA updater Application in Admin mode the App doesn’t find the dongle. If I run it in normal user mode it works properly. This may be why it doesn’t work on my other 2 systems which have UAC disabled. So I have a workaround for it not working on my dev machine. This may help others with the same issue.

@plains203 - Ok good! Can you do us a favor and try to enable UAC on one of the other computers and see if it will work (if possible and you have time)?

I can now confirm that enabling UAC on my Windows 10 PC made the difference. With UAC enabled the OTA Updater App can see my dongle. If I use the windows context menu to run the OTA app as administrator it cannot find the dongle. I must say this seems to be very odd behaviour, that windows would not allow access to the hardware when running with higher access levels. Anyhow it now works on my Dev PC and really I probably should have UAC on anyhow  ;D
