New version of mc-OTA available today!
« on: August 12, 2016, 05:19:40 pm »
Hello everyone! There is a new version of the mc-OTA application available on our website today!
The new version is v.1.2.10 and was released today, August 12th 2016. We will be updating the mc-OTA user guide but the main new functions in the mc-OTA updater are:

1) Ability to erase an mc-Script that is loaded into your modules!
2) If mc-OTA updater, for some reason, cannot automatically detect mc-Boot, then you can manually select a different port
3) Will not allow you to load mc-Mod120 firmware onto an mc-Mod110 device and vice-versa

Thanks!

This update has gone sideways for me. First, Avast complained that there might be something suspicious here. Of course I ran anyway. Next, as shown, an incompatible device bootloader is detected.  The Release Note says something about changing the port, but I don't seem to have a choice and the "Port Number" field and "Connect" button are grayed out. Now what?

I have a similar problem after updating to v1.2.10.  It could always find mcDongle-Bootloader before but now it says "No mcDongle-Bootloader found."  When starting up, I get the "Can't find USB with descriptor mcBoot.  Try manually adding Port Number then press connect."  Tried various port numbers but no good.  Any suggestions?

Try changing the Port assigned to the mcDongle via the Control Panel.  You may have to the mc-OTA at each launch what port to use.

Thanks, Riverrider.  Turns out that I have two USB cables, one that works for data and one that works only for power (which I have cleverly forgotten to label).  With the working cable, it found the mcDongle right away without asking for the port--updates all done now--and the non-working cable is marked!  Best wishes.

Hi Riverrider,

Based on the snapshot that you have provided, the mc-OTA Updater have found the mc-Dongle automatically and there is no need to change the Port Number. The "Connect" button will only be activated if for some reason it cannot find an appropriate mc-Dongle.

Second, I could see you have cancelled the update because of an Incompatible device bootloader warning. There has been some changes on the bootloader to accommodate few more features like erasing mcScript. If you click Start Update it should be able to continue the update including the update of your device's bootloader.
