RESOLVED: Erased mcScript and module stopped working
McHome:
I was able to talk with the device in the OTA updater and every time I changed the battery the LED flashed but after I clicked Erase mcScript the mcModule stopped responding. I even tried a fresh battery and still there was no LED flash and the OTA would not detect it. Is there a way to reset and allow my mcModule to be discover again?
mc-Gyver:
Hi mcHome,
Do you happen to know the version number of the bootloader before you pressed erase mcScript?
McHome:
I had the latest software on everything, v0.8-375 on the mcModule and everything was working until I erased the mcScript. Any ideas how to fix?
Cochrane:
I just had the same issue. I have an original mcModule 110 and trying to get into it to do an update. I did the erase script, which went through fine. Then I did Erase database, and it "Erase Failed!" and now I can't connect to it. I've tried a couple batteries, and the red light doesn't flash. I think I bricked it. Also, I had just installed OTA app and mcStudio onto my PC for the first time.
mc-T2:
Hello all, this is odd behavior that we have not seen.
We did some testing today and it does look like erasing the data store does stop the module from working. At this point, do not hit the erase data store when updating your mcModules!
The erase data store option is to erase the module registry on the mcGateways, it is not meant to be used with the mcModules. We are exploring how to solve this within the mcOTA application or within the programming of the modules in firmware. Until we resolve this with a new mcOTA version, DO NOT ERASE THE DATA STORE ON YOUR MODULES when using mcOTA.
You can still erase the mcScript (we tested this and everything is fine).
I will also make an announcement in the mcDongle board and in our general announcement board to inform everyone.
Thanks for your patience on this matter!
