Has anyone tried to use Crouton with mcThings?
« on: September 04, 2016, 06:01:24 am »
I've come across Crouton in my searches of interesting MQTT applications - https://github.com/edfungus/Crouton

Has anyone attempted to integrate it with their mcThings setup?

Regards,
Michal

I just took a quick look and it seems be a MQTT Dashboard and then it's not any problem to integrate it to mcThings because they talks the same language (MQTT).

Publish the temperature from mcModule and then you could see it in Crouton.

I use openhab as an mqtt interface. It's complicated to set up, but as I already had it set up for other items (it has interfaces to dozens of devices, not just mqtt), adding a few extra mqtt items was easy for me. It's nice because it has a web and ios interface (plus a REST and websocket interface). I just use the ios interface on my phone/iPad most of the time.

If you're new to openhab, the learning curve is steep, but once you are there, you can do almost anything IoT/automation wise.

I am also using openhab. I love it. But as Nick_W mentioned it is a lot to get your head around at first.
