Impossible to update modules firmware
« on: June 11, 2016, 07:52:18 pm »
I have pledged for 4 McModules (+1 Dongle +1 Gateway), and I can’t update the firmware of any of those 4 modules. I used the OTA software as indicated in the instruction video, and the app can’t see the modules. The LED on the Dongle is on and the app says Ready, but I can’t see any light on the modules, even though I tried with 3 different (and charged) batteries. Nothing! All I see is « Connection to device failed » message. I can’t see any LED on any of those.

What should I do? By the way, I’m using a Macbook Retina (with USB-C) with Parallels Desktop and Windows 8.1 Pro on it. It normally don’t cause any problem.

Hello.
Okey, let's start with the battery, when you install the battery in the mcModule do you see the red light on the mcModule for about one second?

Do you follow the guide for the OTA update? First enter the MAC address of the mcModule in OTA software click search and now install the he battery in that mcModule.

No red light at all on any of them. I've tried numerous batteries, which I tested on a tester before trying them. I'll have to buy other batteries make sure, but ...

That sounds very strange, but that all of your modules should be broken is not very likely.
I mean they are tested and i have never seen any broken ones or heard of any broken.

And the battery that you are using is CR2032 3V?
And you are installing them correct? Plus should be facing away from the module and minus against the module (like the picture and just slide it all the way in)

I've just sent a video of the procedure I used to Tom. I'm sure I'm doing everything I should do. I'm thinking the modules could have been damaged in the shipping even though I don't see obvious damages on them.
