Can't get gateway to connect to mcmodule
« on: July 05, 2016, 06:35:30 pm »
I have my gateway up and running. I have updated the firmware to 0.6.359
I open mc-studio.
It shows me my gateway with the appropriate firmware version.
I connect to the gateway.
mc-studio shows me the two modules it can see.
I see the modules sending beacon messages.
I click on a mc-module (i.e. highlight one) and then click on connect device, and it never connects.
I see beacons on the selected device for a while, after which they stop indefinitely.

I have tried to run the mcOTAUpdater to update module firmware, but it can never find the module
(after putting the Uid into the search box).

Can anyone suggest what I should do?

Further experimentation shows,
Stopping the connection, disconnecting the gateway and reconnecting will display the two modules I have active.
The one I haven't tried to connect to displays regular beacon updates.
The one I tried connecting to never shows beacon updates.

Taking the battery out and putting it back I see beacon updates from it again.
It appears to me that the mc-module has stopped or in an infinite loop after trying to connect to it.

What are the versions from all components? A screen shot of the device form always helps

The Beacon data should be all zero's and that is not the case. It contains part of the UID so there is a version incompatibility. Your gateway and mcStudio have the correct version so the version in the module must be incorrect. You can't see the version because the version is not in the beacon and only shows up if you have a connection.
Can you try to load the latest software in the module?

Re-read the first post and you could not load the code in the module. Have to ask a college why that is.

Did you power cycle the device? The module's bootloader will be active for 5 seconds after a power on reset. We can try it again by doing the following steps.
   1. Unplug power from mcMod110.
   2. Launch mc-OTA Updater and start “Search Device”. (without filtering)
   3. Supply power on mcMod110
   4. When the Device (mcMod110) is found, It’s info will be populated on the Device Information window and should be ready for starting the update.

For more information you can find the quick start guide here: http://www.mcthings.com/s/mcOTA-Quick-Start-Guide-005.pdf

Thanks, starting the updater then putting the battery in the module allowed to updater to see the module and the firmware update is done.
The module firmware update fixed the problem of the gateway seeing the module.
